Integration Engineer
Connect the systems & Build the standard.
The hardest part of integrations isn't writing the code. It's making sure it holds up long after launch, and that the next integration doesn't take as long to build.
At Simployer, our API & Integrations team builds the standard integrations that connect our platform to the external systems our customers already use: ATS, CRM, Payroll and Time Reporting. As we expand into new markets, the goal is to continue building standard integrations that are self-served: customers set up and manage these connections themselves, and each new integration is faster to build and easier to reuse.
Simployer is also at the forefront of AI, and it shows in how we work day to day. We use AI development tools daily, not just as chat assistants but built into our coding workflows, and we experiment constantly through hackathons and internal tools we build to solve our own problems. Our team also owns Simployer's public MCP built on top of our public API, part of how integration is expanding to include AI agents, not just traditional systems.
Your mission
Build integrations that customers can set up themselves and trust to sync their data accurately across systems. Reliable enough that they hold up as we scale, standard enough that each new connection is faster to build than the last.
You will take ownership of real integration work: building and maintaining integrations to the external systems customers depend on, ATS, CRM, and payroll among them, and standardizing the patterns behind them so integration becomes repeatable rather than bespoke. You will also extend the public API that partners and third-party vendors build on, helping grow the ecosystem around Simployer's data.
You will at times work closely with other product teams at Simployer, those responsible for the Absence, Compensation, and Core domains, along with the customer support and professional onboarding teams that help our customers succeed.
You will thrive here if…
You have real experience across more than one tech stack and can go deep in whichever one the work calls for. Our platform runs on Java and Spring Boot today, alongside inherited integrations in the Node.js ecosystem you'll help maintain, and picking up new languages and frameworks doesn't slow you down
Working across the frontend (React), backend (Java, Spring Boot, TypeScript), and database (MongoDB, PostgreSQL) feels natural
You have built or worked with REST APIs and understand what makes an integration reliable versus fragile
Integration patterns and external systems aren't new to you
You have worked with external systems with unreliable or missing documentation and found a way through
AI development tools are already part of your daily work, or personal projects you can walk us through, real and current, not something you're planning to start
You enjoy working through challenges with other teams, and can explain an integration issue just as clearly to a developer as to an HR person who has never opened an API doc
Tech you'll be working with: Java 21+, Spring Boot, TypeScript, Node.js, Apache Camel, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kubernetes, and cloud (Azure and GCP).
This is a mid/senior level role, but if you feel it's a good fit, strong integration experience carries more weight than total years, go ahead and apply!
Message from our Hiring team:
"Hi, I am Alisha, Engineering Manager for the API & Integrations team. I have been working with integrations at Simployer for the past three years, and I see integrations as a crucial part of how we connect our platform with the systems our customers rely on. What I value most about working at Simployer is the combination of ambition, expertise, and the opportunity to grow in a dynamic environment. It is a place where you get real opportunities to grow.
I am looking for someone with a strong background in integrations who wants to take ownership of how Simployer connects with external systems. In this role, you will build new integrations, improve the experience for our users and customers, maintain existing solutions, and make thoughtful technical decisions along the way. We actively embrace AI tools in our development workflow and are looking for someone who is excited to work in that way as well.
As your manager, my goal is to support your growth while giving you the autonomy to do your best work, with guidance whenever you need it. If this sounds like the kind of work you enjoy, I would love to hear from you."
We can't wait to meet you!

How do I prepare for a meet & greet?
The Meet & Greet is a first conversation where we get to know each other better.
You’ll meet the hiring manager and someone from our People & Culture team. We’ll share more about the role, the team, and Simployer as a company, and we’ll ask some competence-based questions related to your experience.
There’s no need to prepare anything specific in advance. It can still be helpful to have a few real examples from your previous experience in mind, as we’re interested in how you’ve approached different situations and responsibilities.
Just as importantly, this is your opportunity to ask us questions, about the role, the team, our way of working, or Simployer in general. We want the conversation to feel open, relaxed, and mutual -
How do I prepare for an intro chat?
This is a relaxed first chat with one of our recruiters - no stress, no trick questions.
It’s meant to be a two-way conversation where you get to know us and the role a bit better, and we’ll ask a few questions to understand your background and what you’re looking for. No preparation needed. We’ll also touch on practical stuff like salary expectations and your notice period, so it’s a good idea to think about that beforehand. And yes, there’s time for your questions too!
Overall, we’ll keep it high level and fairly short. -
Can I apply even if I don't meet every requirement?
Definitely! If you tick some of the boxes and feel excited about the role, go for it 😊
We don’t expect anyone to match every requirement perfectly, we also value potential, curiosity, and learning mindset. And if you want to share what motivates you, a short personal letter is a great way to tell us why you think this role is made for you.
-
Will I receive feedback if I'm not selected?
We always make sure you hear from us, whether you move forward in the process or not. If you’ve been through interviews or assessments, we aim to give meaningful feedback whenever possible. Please feel free to let us know what kind of feedback you are looking for, and we'll try our best to adapt to that. However, at the application stage we unfortunately aren’t able to provide detailed feedback to everyone.
